Calne campus proposals move forward

Local people will have the opportunity to view and comment upon proposals to create the first part of an innovative campus that will serve the whole Calne community area.
Wiltshire Council is working closely with local partners and the community to develop a split site campus in Calne that will be jointly located at Beversbrook, Calne Leisure Centre and a site in the centre of the town.
The plans to enhance the sports facility at Beversbrook will go on show in the community next week and people will have the opportunity to feedback their comments before they are submitted for planning permission. The proposals for Beversbrook, which is run and will continue to be run by Calne Town Council, involve extending the pavilion, building an all-weather pitch and creating a road crossing adjacent to the entrance.
These proposals have been developed by the Calne Campus working group that was set up by the Calne Area Board to ensure the views of the community were reflected in the campus proposal.
The plans will be on display at the library, the Community Hub, the Town Council Information desk in Bank House and at Beversbrook from Tuesday 15 July to Saturday 19 July inclusive; comment forms will be available. People can also view the proposals online during the same period at www.wiltshire.gov.uk and comments can be emailed through campusconsultation@wiltshire.gov.uk
It is anticipated that plans to develop a campus at Calne Leisure Centre will be submitted later in 2014.
The Chairman of the Calne Campus working group, Cllr Alan Hill said: “I am delighted that the Calne campus proposals are moving forward. We have worked closely with local people and organisations and I believe this scheme will deliver real benefits for the local community. I urge everyone to visit these displays or view them online so they can see what is being proposed and give us any comments they may have.”
